It's the struggle. Between good and evil, corruption and innocence, and whether it's within ourselves or against others it's always there. Myth documents these strange sides and how these characteristics that are so drastically different can exist within one entity. Model: Katie Herda Hair and Makeup Artist: Talia M: Beaute
Another day spent with the mountain man. This week's location? Wasootch; an interesting place for outdoor climbing. Such a different experience to climb outside on real rock. I started out good, in attempt to keep up with my 'guide' but once we hit the final third of my first multi-pitch climb I lost it. Being in a touch spot that's quite technical I felt I could barely hold on to where I was, let alone try and move up. I'm sure I was holding there for ten minutes, it felt like an eternity though. It was an interesting moment of clarity, it felt a lot like my professional life at the moment; I'm barely holding on to where I'm at but I am trying desperately to talk myself into letting go and trying to trust myself that I can and will move forward.
Despite this moment of uncertainty it was overall another great adventure for the books and dare I say I'm even excited to go again soon! - March 30th 2015
Spring has sprung!
Had a fun Sunday spent at Market Collective. This was so up my alley but in the past every time I tried to go I ended up having a wedding or shoot or something booked. But finally made it! And wow. So much amazing talent in Calgary. I could not believe all the incredible art and hand made goodies! I felt like a kid in a candy shop, especially when I came to Dixie + Twine's booth. Hand made gift wrapping, cute string, tags, straws, signs, everything an OCD color coordinator like me could dream of! Can't wait for the next Market Collective and to explore all the new vendors.
Went from white sand beaches straight to The Rockies. Had my first go at ice climbing in King Creek. Beautiful area. The ice was almost luminous with the sun shining and bringing out the deep blue hue. I think it's safe to say my 'guide' was probably better off without me but I had fun none the less and got some good photos of him. All in all a great day, and dare I say I can't wait to go again!
Negril's Seven Mile Beach in Jamaica. Paradise. Staying right on the beach and waking up the sound of the waves crashing along the shore was like living in a postcard.
We did not have to go far for anything, as locals walked the beach with everything we could possibly need for sale. Fresh fruit cut in front of us, a Bob Marley impersonator serenading the tourists, and glass bottom boat tours offering snorkeling nearby. And to top it all off? The most amazing sunsets you could image as the ocean breeze flowed through our hair. I cannot wait to visit this island oasis again soon. The chill vibe of locals and their "island time" attitude made this vacation feel like a real vacation. Nothing to do but relax.
Had a blast photographing this cute couple at the Calgary zoo! Zoo lights are too fun. Hard to believe it is my last portrait session of 2015! Happy Holidays and all the best in the New Year. xox
Had the honor of photographing this beautiful couple at their vintage movie theatre style wedding. Congrats Mr & Mrs Shaw
VERY EXCITED to announce I have a new series "two-thirds" that will be debuting at Medicine Hat's newest gallery One on One. The exhibit will be opening at the beginning of September and hope you can all make it. Here is a sneak peek in the meantime, and I will be sure to keep you up to date as details shake out.
Congratulations to the happy couple! Such a wonderful wedding. A select amount of guests made it a very intimate, beautiful ceremony. All the best you two! =)
Got home, and before I knew it I was back on the move! Headed to Montana to photograph a wedding. Destination weddings are so nice! Lovely to drive through the mountains =)
Was fortunate enough to spend the weekend in a Buddhist temple. Waking up at 3am to do chores and 108 bows was not too fun but being able to speak with monks and be completely engulfed in nature was incredible. Definitely an enlightening experience.
Happy Canada Day! A group of us found a Canadian themed bar in Seoul! We ranted and raved to our Korean and American friends the whole way there about 'poutine'. Unfortunately when we got there they were out =( But despite this we had some good American style food and local beers from back home. All in all not a bad way to celebrate.
Awesome day at the beach! Not what I was expecting, but great none the less. After almost taking the wrong bus four different times, and getting off at the wrong stop I made it to Wangsan Beach. The only other beaches I've been to have been in California so I was expecting a beautiful pier, and all that kind of glamor. Based on these expectation, walking towards Wangsan I thought I was in the wrong place. I passed several buildings that looked pretty sketchy, or abandoned. Just when I was convinced I had reached the place I would be murdered, I came across rows of benches with identical rainbow beach umbrellas! It was secluded, quaint and just really cute! Not to mention, it was freaking hot! But I had fun walking along the beach, reading under an umbrella and eating popsicles most of the afternoon. Best day here so far! Can't wait to make my way to Dankook University tomorrow and see what other pleasant surprises I come across.
My first glimpse of South Korea! I think the woman sitting beside me had a laugh to herself since I could not stop craning my neck to look out the window. Nor could I wipe the stupid grin off my face.
